Deficient welds and pipes are currently being repaired at The Blue Grass Chemical-Agent Destruction Depot in Richmond, Kentucky. The facility was built to dismantle and destroy chemical weapons. Officials say that due to the high temperature and pressure that break down the chemicals lead to stress cracks in the welds and pipes. The depot is scheduled to resume operations in 2020 and complete destruction of chemical weapons in 2023.
